Micah Mullen

The Zebulon Downtown Arts Council (ZDAC) is proud to present new paintings by Micah Mullen.

Michah's intricate works explore abstraction, symbolism, and the shifting ways we perceive imagery through bold use of color and pattern.

Micah learned to paint through immersion in art from an early age. His father taught art at the college level for three decades, and Micah continued this passion, earning degrees from SUNY Brockport and Duquesne University. After moving to Raleigh in 1996, he spent years in the art supply industry, learning countless techniques and principles that inform his ongoing pursuit of putting ideas onto canvas.

His painting style involves creating complicated backgrounds of hundreds of grids in varying colors, then concentrating on adding detail to specific segments over time. This method allows different parts of each painting to reflect his varying emotions and moods, creating balance and harmony in detailed, complex compositions.
